Staple Items You Need In Your Jewellery Collection

Staple Items You Need In Your Jewellery Collection

Ever wondered what you might need in your jewellery collection? Well, I gotcha covered. As a lover of accessories, I can often find myself over indulging and I do have quite the collection – however, there are a few staple items that I always keep in my jewellery collection, and today I’m sharing those with you to help shape your own capsule jewellery wardrobe.

Statement Necklace

Every gal needs a statement necklace or two in their lives. Heck, I might have a few more than that, but I just love the glamour they add to an outfit. Of course, no one would believe this necklace – as seen in my Houndstooth Dress Outfit here – is made from real jewellery (ain’t nobody got the money for that!) but it’s a fun way to add a little bling to a more casual outfit. You can pick these up from most high street stores for around a tenner and are a nice way to also add colour in the form of different ‘gems’ into a look.

Chunky Watch

Everyone loves a watch, but I personally think a chunky watch is a total staple in any jewellery collection. As in my Outfit post here, I think a thick watch in silver or gold adds a bit of an edge masculine statement to any outfit (particularly if you feel a little twee when wearing a dress!). If you can’t stomach ditching a totally feminine look, you could always invest in a rose gold version to make the watch look a little more feminine.

Black Choker

Chokers have made a huge comeback in the jewellery world this year, and no collection is complete without them. I personally like wearing a thick black choker (which I find to me more flattering than the thinner versions) with both casual and formal outfits. I love how they add a spot of 90’s vibes to a t-shirt and jeans, but paired with a party outfit (like I did here), a thick black velvet choker instantly takes on a classic, retro look, reminiscent of the 1950’s.

Stud Earrings

Finally, no jewellery collection is complete without a timeless pair of stud earrings. Every day I make sure I wear a pair of either silver of gold studs like from my Outfit of the Day post above – they’re subtle but totally complete any look and help you look polished without being overdressed. Sure, I like a good pair of danglies for night outs, but stud earrings are perfect for daytime. My ultimate goal is to own my very own pair of diamond earrings, but for now I’ll just keep saving!
