There’s No Place Like Home: Loungewear Essentials You Need Right Now

Never did I ever consider myself ever becoming a loungewear coinsseur. In fact, quite the opposite – until recently I’ve always prided myself on smart clothes, blazers and blouses. I didn’t even own my first pair of trainers until two years ago. But alas, how times change! What with Lockdown now spanning several months I confess, I’ve done it, I’ve invested in loungewear and now I can’t see a way out of this. Will I ever wear proper trousers again? What are highheels? What’s a full face of makeup? Who knows, but I’m living for loungewear right now.

To celebrate my new found love a loungewear – and let’s face it, we have to take little wins where we can right now – I’ve compiled a must-have list of stay-at-home essentials you simply MUST rediscover right now…

An Oversized T-Shirt

Nothing says ‘is it loungewear or pyjamas’ like an oversized T-Shirt! And right now, isn’t the vibe we are all going for?

Before lockdown I had a serious lack of tees. Most of my wardrobe is dresses or blouses as I wear pretty similar clothes for both weekends and in-work. Now of course, all time and structure has gone out of the window, and so I made sure I invested in one white and one black oversized T-shirt each to do the job.

The tee I’m wearing in this blog post is from Femme Luxe Finery and says ‘there’s no place like home’ – and ain’t that the truth.

Pair of Black Leggings

Okay I confess, even I had a pair of black leggings before lockdown. Mostly because I use to wear them to the gym – now unfortunately activewear is very much getting worn when I am being distincly in-active. In every sense of the word.

Whether with an oversized tee, a sweater or even a nice knit for when you might actually want to take your daily exercise and go for a walk, black leggings can help you feel -slightly- more put together than if just snooping about in joggers. After all, they might help your look pass as a real outfit, right?

If not…

Tracksuit Bottoms

I must admit. Even I have not dared to take the plunge from leggings to tracksuit bottoms yet. I just can’t do it – BUT I admire those who can pull of a sleek trackies look without seeming like you’ve just rolled out of bed. How?! It’s a skill.

If you’re looking for some at-home trackies that will also be acceptable for a socially-distanced walk to your local park, try looking out for plain colours. Plain greys, camels and maybe even nude-pinks. I tend to find that patterns and side stripes make them look more sports-luxe than indoor-chic, which I guess if that’s what you’re going for, is absolutely fine!

A Luxury Lounge Suit

Do yourself a favour: next paycheck (furloughed or not), use the money you would usually spend on your daily Starbucks, the Wine Wednesday afterwork drinks with the girls from the office and dinner-for-two date nights that no one can have right now, and indulge that money in a luxury loungewear set. Just do it.

Having a luxury loungewear set – think silk and satin material, a tie waist, a faux shirt neck and palazzo pants – will make you feel like the queen of your own self-isolating castle. Changing out of pyjamas but still wanna feel fabulous yet oh-so-cosy? These have you covered. It’s money well spent and you will not regret it!
